Social Skills Classes for Grade K-2 

Synopsis
Maverick Max and Captain Cass are fearless space travelers and best friends, but when Cass introduces Max to his crew, Max shows that he has a few things to learn about making new friends.  With the help of the Zoom Patrol (played by your students), Max learns that new friends should introduce themselves, share, and take turns.

Educational Objectives

  1. To teach students how to introduce themselves by smiling, saying hello in a calm voice, telling the other person their names and asking what their name is.
  2. To teach the importance of inviting a friend to play with you
  3. To exhibit why it's necessary to take turns and share
  4. To help students recognize positive ways to communicate with your friends if you're angry
  5. To demonstrate the importance of telling friends how you feel and apologizing if you make a mistake

Audience Size: 35 students maximum in a classroom; up to 40 students in a multi-purpose room

Social Skills Classes for Grades 3-6

Synopsis
If children have difficulty with friendships during their formative years, their self-images can sink and their performances in school may suffer.  In this fun and thought-provoking class, students will discover their similarities through a highly physical activity, watch a scene that demonstrates the negative consequences of cliques, and role-play how to resolve conflicts between friends. This class addresses the most basic issues of making and keeping friends.

Educational Objectives

  1. To give students the opportunity to discover their common interests
  2. To demonstrate the harmful emotional consequences of cliques and exclusion
  3. To brainstorm the positive consequences of friendship and inclusion
  4. To give students the opportunity to practice resolving conflicts between friends
