Harassment Prevention Classes for Grades 6-8
Synopsis Jonah Remington is a mild mannered teenager who is known by his peers as an easy target who won’t fight back. That is, until the day he's decided he's had enough. His classmates at Winter Lake High School are shocked when he retaliates...What will happen next? Through a series of activities and role-plays, students identify the similarities between Winter Lake and their own school, explore the power that they have to stop harassment, and brainstorm the choices they can make to improve their school climate.
Educational Objectives
- To provide a definition of harassment
- To encourage students to examine various roles in a harassment situation
- To provide an opportunity for students to identify the social structures in their schools that encourage harassment
- To allow students to brainstorm possible bystander and target responses to a harassment situation
- To demonstrate and practice the Assertive Steps
